Republican hog lot lawyer Doug Gross is trying to erase water quality efforts in Polk County!
Republican lawyer and party activist Doug Gross represents the largest hog producers in Iowa—the industry responsible for Iowa having some of the worst water in America.
Doug Gross is chairperson of a dark money group called Citizens for Civic Impact that is trying to defeat Progressive Democrat Matt McCoy in the race for Polk County Board of Supervisors.
The group was previously called Citizens for School Betterment, which also operated under the name Yes for Des Moines Schools during the 2025 Des Moines Public Schools bond referendum campaign. The name was amended on May 6, 2026 to Citizens for Civic Impact.
The group put out multiple negative direct mail hit pieces recently, filled with lies and distortions about Matt McCoy’s record.
Why? Because Matt McCoy has been a champion for water quality as a member of the Polk County Board of Supervisors and Gross’ hog lot polluters are feeling the heat.
Democratic Primary voters deserve better than a GOP operative attempting to buy a seat on the board. Vote for Matt McCoy, a clean water champion, on June 2nd.
