Issues
As Polk County Supervisor, Matt McCoy has delivered on his promises to invest in clean water initiatives, expand affordable housing, support unsheltered & marginalized, and expand access to mental health & substance abuse programs.
Water Quality
Under Matt’s leadership, Polk County has invested millions in many water quality initiatives with over 40,000 acres of cover crops planted, 45 wetlands constructed or designed, and the state’s largest stream restoration project in Polk County.
Affordable Housing
Last year, Polk County invested 10 million dollars to secure over 500 affordable housing units across Polk County using one-time federal funding.
Helping the Marginalized in our Community
When the Central Iowa Shelter & Services needed critical infrastructure repairs, Polk County invested over 800,000 dollars to ensure a warm meal, a hot shower, and a more secure shelter. We shouldn’t penalize the marginalized in our community, we should provide a helping hand.
Expanding Mental Health & Substance Abuse Programs
In 2024, Polk County opened the Life Services Center, providing support for those experiencing mental health & substance abuse challenges. Because everybody deserves support and an opportunity to recover.
